Liz, founder of Bat City Books

Hi, I'm Liz

Owner of Bat City Books

Chances are, you didn't start your business or nonprofit because you love reconciling bank statements. You started because you're great at something, whether that's running a shop, serving a community, or building something from scratch. The books just came along for the ride.

That's where I come in.

I started Bat City Books in 2017 because I genuinely enjoy the part of running an organization that most people dread. I like the quiet satisfaction of a reconciled account, a payroll that runs on time, and a set of books that make sense when you finally sit down to look at them. When I take on a client, my goal is simple: you shouldn't have to think about your bookkeeping unless you want to.

I've also been where many of my clients are. Before Bat City Books, I spent years in the nonprofit world managing grants, juggling reporting deadlines, and trying to keep the finances straight while also doing the actual work. I know what it feels like when the books become one more thing keeping you up at night. That's a big part of why I do this.

Today I work with small businesses and nonprofits from my home base here in Austin. Whether you need someone to clean up a backlog, handle payroll, or just keep things running smoothly month to month, I'd love to take it off your plate.

Credentials

I'm a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and I hold Intuit's Client Advisory Services Foundations certification, which is about using your numbers to help you make decisions, not just recording them. Both badges are verified on Credly, so you can check them yourself.

Why "Bat City"?

Bat City is Austin's nickname. Every summer, up to 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats live under the Congress Avenue Bridge, the largest urban bat colony in North America, and fly out over Lady Bird Lake at dusk. The name is a nod to home: this is an Austin business, run by someone who lives here.
